City of Livermore
The City of Livermore is an active member of the Livermore
Cultural Arts Council. It supports cultural arts in a variety of
ways:
- A member of the City Council serves as the City's
representative to the LCAC and keeps member organizations apprised
of City-sponsored cultural activities and City policies that might
affect member organizations.
- The City's Public Arts Commission advises the City Council
regarding the City's support of public art. (A new sculpture by
Sam Richardson was recently approved for installation between City
Hall and the Police Building.)
- The City has for many years made patron purchases of local art
for public display and as gifts for our Japanese sister city.
- The City's tourism fund has contributed money towards local
cultural events, such as by helping to promote events with
out-of-town visitors.
- City libraries have rooms available for meetings of cultural
groups.
- The City provides storage space for the equipment of the
Livermore Cultural Arts Council.
- The City is actively pursuing the Livermore Valley Center
(including a performing arts facility) as part of a larger goal of
making the downtown into an entertainment center.
- The City is always responsive to requests from the LCAC for
support of the Council's activities.
