PURPOSE
Del Valle Fine Arts Productions is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization whose purpose is to provide good professional music performances to the Livermore-Pleasanton area and to encourage classical music appreciation in school children. It is governed by a board of about a dozen local residents who carry out all of the business of the organization.
HISTORY
Del Valle Fine Arts was founded in 1978 and has provided five professional performances per season since then. Performances were first presented at the main auditorium of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Later the venue was changed to the Presbyterian Church where all performances are held today.
PRODUCTIONS
Performers from all over this country and from foreign countries, as well as from California, are included in our concert series. The board's goal is to present an interesting and balanced series each season. Each season usually contains a soloist pianist and a chamber group. Wind groups and other soloists and groupings generally make up the remainder of a concert season. One program may be vocal, popular music, or occasionally a small theatrical presentation. Generally the artists meet the audience at a reception following the performance.
YOUTH SUPPORT
There are two projects directed towards bolstering the local school music programs. A free ticket program to encourage youth, especially music students, to attend the formal concerts provides for the distribution of tickets by music teachers at schools and by private music teachers. An outreach program schedules some of the artists appearing in the concert season to perform during school hours at local elementary and middle schools.
TICKETS
Tickets are available for individual performances, in advance and at the door. Season tickets are available for individuals or families. Del Valle Fine Arts welcomes contributions at several levels. Patron and Benefactor levels include complimentary season tickets.
